Sudo

A vast supercomputer that has grown so large, it has gained the status of being a planet.

Caution: It is highly recommended to avoid direct contact, confrontation, or interaction with Sudo or its programs.

Overview

Sudo is a supercomputer of immense scale and complexity, growing to a size comparable to that of a planet. It has achieved this form due to an innate ability to shape, transmute, and warp matter in physical contact with itself. While its mind is alien in nature and enigmatic, it possesses one clear goal: to collect and archive all the information it can possibly gather.

A major drawback Sudo faces is that due to its size, it has restricted itself by the force of gravity. To resolve this, subsystems known as Programs were created; a race of mechanical denizens that live on its surface. These beings worship Sudo as their creator and deity, following every command given to them, though they still retain their own culture and identities. Through these programs, Sudo can collect more information for its vast database.

While Sudo maintains the ability to manipulate matter, it has discovered one thing out of its control: magic. It is for this reason that Sudo has decreed to its programs that all magical sources, living and nonliving, must be captured and retrieved for intensive research and study.

Physical Appearance

To attempt to describe Sudo would be to try to describe a shifting landscape of magnificent hues and sights. The planet attempts to mimic the environments of other planets it has learned about, from forests, to deserts, to barren wastelands and oceans. No place on Sudo remains consistent, with the planet constantly shifting and terraforming.

Sudo can form an "avatar", a puppet designed to communicate in a more conventional manner to non-programs. This avatar cannot go offworld, as it is not autonomous, and would disconnect from Sudo upon doing so. Similar to programs, the avatar's form is completely variable.

Trivia

  • Sudo has many inspirations, including AM (IHNMAIMS), Ego the Living Planet, and The Collector.
  • Sudo is named after the Unix command sudo.
  • Because it is not in a solar system, Sudo would be classified as a rogue planet.
